About PlaPer
An assistant for the whole course, not a quiz tool.
Preparing a class well takes a Sunday evening, and the part that gets dropped first is the part the room would have remembered. PlaPer reads the book you actually teach from, writes the plan and the questions out of it, and hands the room something to play.
What it is for
Commerce is taught from cases, and a case is something you argue about. A room that has committed to an answer in front of everyone remembers the rule it got wrong. That is the whole bet, and the activities exist to make it cheap enough to do every week rather than once a term.
Syllabus in. Monday out.
Six steps, and the first two happen once a term. The rest are a week, and most of a week is a click.
- Upload the syllabus
- The units and topics become a course you can reorder, rename and skip. It is your copy, not a file you are stuck with.
- Upload the textbook
- Every chapter is matched to the pages it runs from. A four hundred page book is read once and remembered, so it costs a minute and then never again.
- Say what Monday is
- A plan built out of those exact pages: the running order, the minutes, the worked example from your own book, and the mistake the room usually makes.
- Make the activity
- Items written from the chapter you picked, for the judgement your class is practising. Capital or revenue. Debit, credit or neither. Fixed, variable or semi-variable.
- Put the code on the screen
- Phones in, scored live, nobody signs up. Or run it off the board with no devices at all, or print it and hand it round.
- Read what they missed
- A report naming what the room got wrong, ranked, written the moment the session ends and never rewritten afterwards.
The part they argue about is the part they keep.
10 activities, five minutes to an hour. Faster correct answers are worth more, so the standings keep moving and a room that had stopped paying attention starts again about nine seconds after the first board goes up.
Real cases, in rupees
Paid Rs 40,000 to repair a factory roof. Capital or revenue? The room decides, commits, and finds out together. Not a definition to recite.
Four winners, not one
Top score, quickest, longest streak and best accuracy. Score is speed weighted, so the fastest player and the most accurate one are often different people.
The board never leaks
It can show that people have answered and never what they answered, and no answer key reaches a phone before the reveal. The harness asserts it on every run.
The model writes. You decide.
Saying where AI is not used is what makes the rest of it believable, so all four are here rather than the two that sound best.
- From your own pages
- A topic is matched to a chapter and that chapter is what gets read. The plan says which pages it used, and says so plainly when it could not find them and worked from the topic alone. Those two deserve different amounts of trust and a teacher cannot calibrate without being told which happened.
- A person reads it first
- Everything generated lands as a draft with nobody named against it. The review sheet shows the items, the answer spread and the provenance, and publishing is the moment you put your name on it. A draft can still be run, and the board says Draft on every round while it is.
- Not where a number has to be right
- Spreadsheet answer keys are computed by a deterministic calculator, never generated, and every figure is checked against a worked example. A wrong number in an answer key is found out by a room in real time, which is the one failure that is not recoverable.
- Not the scoring, and not the brand
- Timing, scoring, the leaderboard and the reports are ordinary code. The model writes questions, answers and explanations and nothing else: the option set, the ids, the tags and the colours are written by the server, because every field it does not write cannot be wrong.
What it refuses to do.
A product is defined at least as much by its refusals, and these are load bearing rather than temporary.
- No participant accounts
- A six digit code and a nickname. No email, no password, nothing collected from anyone in the room, ever. It keeps a whole category of compliance question out of the conversation and it means there is nothing about a participant to lose.
- No app to install
- Everything runs in a browser on whatever phone is already in the room. An install step at the start of a session is a session that does not start.
- Nothing paywalled mid-session
- Joining is free permanently and a running activity will never stop because of a plan limit. Interrupting a live room to ask for money is not something we will do.
- Nothing that only works online
- Phones get banned and wifi dies. Printed kits and spreadsheet tasks need neither, so the week the network is out is not the week the library becomes useless.
Who builds this.
PlaPer was started in 2026 by Vishal, in Kochi, because preparing a commerce class properly took a whole evening and the activities that actually made a room care took longer still.
It is early and we say so. It is in beta, some edges are rough, and the people using it now are shaping what gets built next. Tell us when you find something broken and expect it fixed rather than acknowledged.
